Reynaldo U. Calleja
November 23, 1930 ~ March 18, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years OldShare Tribute:
Born in the Philippines to parents Mauricio C. Calleja and Sofia Umahon.
Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Letters, University of Sto. Tomas, Manila, Philippines
Married to Leticia Paulino Calleja in 1955 and had five children: Rey Eduardo (Monika); Manolito (Vangeline); Reynaldo, Jr.(deceased); Marissa (Lucio Alingod) and Doris (James Harden).
While in college, worked at the Social Welfare’s Administration’s Staff Training Office and its Public Information Office. Because of his training and experience he became interested in publicity and public relations and accepted a job with the Philippine Promotions Industry where he later became Vice-President for Public Relations. He moved on to become Asst. General Manager and Marketing Director of the Darigold Milk Company. He and his family migrated to the United States when he was 57 years of age and ended his life’s work as an employee of the Alexandria Red Cross.
He was a man of various inclinations: a writer, a poet, a voracious reader that made him a “ball of knowledge” for his children and grandchildren. He was generous to a fault: a giver and a sharer of all he had. He was happiest when he was helping someone. That is why it seems natural that he started his working years in social welfare and retired while working with the Red Cross.
Rey is survived by his wife Letty and four of their children; ten grandchildren: Carlos, Juan , Joshua, Rebecca, Ryan, Robin, Sancho, James, Neka and Maui; and siblings Amparo C. Reyes, Gregorio and Alberto.
