William Douskalis, known also as Bill Douskalis and born Vasilios, husband of Penny Douskalis, father of George and Peter Douskalis and father to Elaine Banas, passed away on March 1st, 2019 at age 66. William was a Mathematician and Electrical Engineer and was the inventor of the “Time Division Multiplex Arrangement” and the “Data Communication Arrangement with Embedded Matrix Switch” as well as co-inventor of the “Data Matrix Method and System for Distribution of Data”, “Call Tones in Communication Networks”, and “Continuity Testing with Call Tone Messaging in Communication Networks”. He was the author of two textbooks on IP Telephony and VoIP regarding his work, which were translated into several languages worldwide. The later part of his career was spent contracting for the United States government, creating technologies used by US agencies to protect US communications and detect foreign communications. The applications of his latest inventions and work are classified. His accomplishments are outstanding as an immigrant from Greece in 1973, who rose to a highest level of security clearance in US government. He was a loving husband, a romantic, and a loving father whose impact goes beyond his immediate family. His mind, innovations, and inventions are used everyday by consumers, citizens, and government, and so his legacy lives on with every global telecommunication emitted. He had so much more to offer.
