Thomas Iribarren

Thomas Patrick Iribarren of West Springfield, VA, 24, died Saturday, July 6, 2019 as the result
of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Tom was born on August 12, 1994 to Jennifer
and Jaime Iribarren. Tom attended Clifton Elementary School until 3rd Grade when he was
selected to attend Willow Springs Elementary School and Rocky Run Middle School as part of
the Fairfax County Gifted and Talented Program. Tom graduated from Robinson Secondary
School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. He was a student at the Northern
VIrginia Community College at the time of the accident.

Although a long-term sufferer of severe depression, Tom brought great joy and happiness to his
family and his illness did not define who he was. Tom was sardonic, thoughtful, kind, and
immensely talented. He wrote screenplays and stories. He was an avid reader and loved to
spend time at the local libraries. Tom enjoyed listening to all music genres. He connected to
others through his affinity with culture, music, books, film, television and, truly, every type of
media. He had a joke or relevant fact always at the ready. Tom raised Claudius, his German
Shepherd dog, from a puppy and spent countless happy hours with Claudius by his side.
Tom will forever be loved and missed by his parents, his sisters Maddie and Katie, his
grandparents, Wilfredo and Margarita Iribarren, William and Adriana Lake, and William and
Patricia Phillips, his uncles William Phillips, Patrick Phillips, Daniel Iribarren, and Alvero Iribarren,
his aunts Denise Phillips, Soledad Iribarren, and Marcela Iribarren, and his many loving cousins
including Erin Phillips, Nicole Phillips, and Mia Sacco.

His loss is a great and devastating blow.

A Gathering will be held at 2:00 at Everly Funeral Home, Falls Church, followed by a Catholic service at 3:00. Friends and family are invited to the Peking Gourmet Inn following the service.
