Rey Joaquin Aguinaldo Cabayan, 63 years old, died on March 30, 2018 in Falls Church, Virginia.
Rey was born in Manila, Philippines in 1954 and graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1977 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked at the Philippine National Power Corporation (NPC) from 1979 to 1988, as an analyst/programmer, project lead and chief of computer operations. He moved to Australia in 1988 where he was employed as a system analyst/programmer for PACT International and Advance Bank. He migrated with his wife and son to the US in 1997 and was a consultant IT specialist for PTO and GSA until he retired at the end on 2017.
He is survived by his wife Carmen, his son Ryan, his siblings, their spouses and their families: Sani (deceased) and Marilu, Klaree and Marisse, Marichi and Joji, Marilin and Tony. He also leaves behind his brothers/sisters in-law and their families: Cindy and Gary, Wette and Pankaj, Tess and Siwa, Luz, Mike, and Pete and Tina.
The viewing is scheduled on April 4, 2018, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 pm at the Everly Community Funeral Care located at 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, Virginia 22044. This will be followed by a funeral mass on April 5, 2018, Thursday, 11:00 am at Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church at 5300 N 10th St, Arlington, VA 22205. Funeral reception will be held at Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church Parish Hall after the mass.
His family would like to thank his doctors, health care providers at Lombardi Cancer Center - Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and at Capital Care Hospice, Father Mel and Eucharistic Minister Elly, his work colleagues and friends for all the care, support and prayers they provided to Rey during his 3 1/2-year battle with liver cancer.
