Tribute

Otto A. Koch was born in New York on August 29, 1931 to Otto and Olive Koch.  At the age of 15, he moved with his parents and brother Peter to Roscoe, New York where he ran a small dairy farm.  He graduated from Roscoe Central High School in 1949.  After graduation, he married Alice M. Jones from Cooks Falls, New York.  Otto served in the army, stationed in Alaska during the Korean War.  It was there that his son, Peter was born.  He was then transferred to Fort Myer in Arlington, Virginia with his duty station at Arlington Hall.

Upon his discharge in 1957, Otto applied to the Metropolitan Police Department.  He was accepted but had already signed on to the Arlington County Police Department. His daughter Kathleen was born the same year. After serving with his partner, Bernie Lundsford in a patrol car, he was assigned duty on a three wheel motorcycle to Clarendon.   Retiring in 1974, he managed Falls Camera in Clarendon for many years.

He is predeceased by his wife Betty.  He leaves behind his son, Peter (Abelene) daughters Kathleen (Craig) and Cheri Sheehan (James) Grandchildren Eric, Alex,

Sara and Denise and five great-grandchildren.

Otto was known for his terrific sense of humor, entertaining all with stories from his life.  He used to say “leave them laughing” and he always did.

We will miss him greatly.
