On Saturday, January 14, 2017, Nikolaos "Niko" Harokopos passed away at the Capital Caring Halquist Memorial Center in Arlington, VA with his family by his side.
Niko was born on July 20, 1945 in Mesohori, Karpathos, Greece to the late Kostantinos and Stamatina Harokopos. He later married his beloved wife Maria Papamanolis Harakopos in 1976 and together they came to the United States in 1981 to raise their family. Niko studied to become a Cargo Ship Radio Operator, a job he enjoyed for over 10 years before entering into the restaurant business to be able to spend more time with his family finally retiring after many years owning and operating several restaurants. To have known Niko was to love him. He had a kind word for everyone and a heart of gold. His family was his world and he was theirs. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Along with his wife Maria, Niko is survived by his son Kosta, his daughter Ourania (Raina) and son-in-law Emmanouel and his granddaughters Maria and Alexia.
Niko's family is receiving friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 6pm to 9pm at the Everly Community Funeral Care, 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22044.
