Irene Sarakinis

June 22, 1955 ~ April 13, 2021 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Tribute

Irene Sarakinis entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the age of 65.

She was born on June 22, 1955 in Crete, Greece to Spiros and Dionysia Vithoulkas.

Irene owned and led Sarakinis Construction Company for 46 years (since the age of 18). She was a true pioneer and trailblazer, as one of the first businesswomen in the industry.

Irene’s vision, imagination and ambition knew no limits. She was the brain behind monumental and historical projects that spanned from Lighthouses to Luxury Homes. These ambitions in her professional life proved just as significant in her personal life. She was a fierce woman, a force to be reckoned with, when it came to defending her family and the pride for her passions. A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her beautiful, compassionate soul was all of this and so much more. Her ability to serve as maternal figures for children other than her own was an aspect that could never be replicated. Such a generous, kind-hearted, and empathetic human being. At times her heart would fill with anxiety when those around her weren't doing well, trying everything in her power to make things right, even when it wasn't required of her.

Her outstanding character could be compared to nothing other than the Greek word Philotimo: meaning friend. However, Philotimo extends far beyond the words companion and honor. It encompasses the concepts of pride in oneself, pride in family, pride in community, and doing the right thing.

Irene is survived by her three children, Mavra, Soula, Antigoni, three siblings, Gina, Angela and Costas, two parents, Dionysia and Spiros, five grandchildren, Thalia, Stefano, Angely, Moe, and Melina, Niece Alexandra and Nephew Spiros, her two sons-in-law, Steve and Sam, as well as all who have been touched by her tenderness and the warmth of her everlasting care. Even through all of her pain and discomfort, she made the most of every situation for the sake of all those who surrounded her. Her generosity and benevolence was a gift from the angels that we never deserved.

Irene, you made a true difference in this world. Our admiration of your energy, your spirit, and your generosity has left a warmth in our hearts that will never be extinguished.  God needed such a beautiful soul by his side.
