Irene George Moshos

Irene George Moshos, 95, of Gainesville, Virginia, left this life peacefully and entered into the presence of the Lord on May 26, 2022. Her life was a testament to her love for God, her beloved family, and her many friends that she regarded as family. Blessed with the gift of hospitality, Irene opened her home to all, even people she had just met, and once you became her friend, she never let you go. She created a life for her family that was filled with love, celebration, tradition, companionship, and faith. She had deep compassion for anyone who was suffering, and she offered great comfort and advice to the hurting. She was a shy person in many ways, but she never failed to reach out and offer her love to everyone.

Irene’s greatest joy in life was her family, and she was blessed to have us all close by. From her family home in Baltimore, Maryland, to her married life with Gus in Richmond and Arlington, and then finally, to her daughter’s home in Gainesville, Virginia, Irene was always surrounded by family. She leaves behind her beloved children, Frances (and Christopher) Kalavritinos, George, Tina (and Paul) Gonzalez, and James (and Olympia) Moshos, as well as her precious and deeply cherished grandchildren, Peter Kalavritinos, Gus (and Catina) Moshos, and Eireni Moshos (and Jared Worley), as well as her beloved godchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her extended family and friends that she loved so dearly.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed by the funeral at 11:30 am, at Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, Virginia 22041. Interment will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22201.
