George Nicolaides

George Nicholas Nicolaides of Alexandria, VA, born in Gazoros, Greece on May 7th, 1935 to the late Nicholas and Kalliope Tsouni Nicolaides, passed away on September 21, 2019. 

George served in the Greek Navy which brought him to the United States. After spending a few years in Chicago, he eventually settled in Virginia. George was a successful restaurateur and opened many diners and restaurants in the Northern Virginia area. He was an avid conversationalist, he loved to tell stories and talk about all things politics.

George was a dedicated husband to Lina Zilionyte and proud step-father to Peter. He was a devoted and loving father to Nicholas Nicolaides (Casan) and Theodore Nicolaides (Stephanie) and doting grandfather to Alex, Ellie, Andreas and JT. He is remembered with love by friends and family both near as well as in Greece, including his brother Panos (Roula), nieces, nephews and dear friends.  
George’s love for his family and friends played an integral role in helping them move to the United States to pursue their American Dreams.

George was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Elizabeth Stowe Nicolaides. 

Services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at St Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church, VA, 10:00am viewing, 11:00am service, burial to immediately follow at Columbia Gardens.
