Donald Fahringer of Falls Church, Virginia passed away Saturday July 10th, 2021. He was 78 years old. He was born November 7th, 1942, at Walter Reed hospital to the late Elizabeth M. Hoffman and Victor T. Fahringer. Donald originally lived in Clarksville, Virginia. He graduated from Bluestone High School, Class of 1961. During that time there he received several Varsity Letters in Basketball. Afterwards he went on to study Liberal Arts and Business at Ferrum College. Shortly after, Don joined the United States Army serving for three years active and three years in Reserves. He received several awards and medals including good conduct and the Purple Heart. He played professional golf and received tournament trophies. He went on to work for Pepco and retired after thirty-six years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Margaret and Victor. Surviving him is his sister Ruth Potterfield. In addition, his ex-wife Donna Wauer, his son Don Fahringer Jr., His daughter Kristen Kane (Chris Kane), his grandchildren Ryan Kane (Sally), Kimberly Kane, his great grandson Alexander Kane, his nieces, and nephews. Don was extremely active most of his life he enjoyed going to hockey games especially the Washington Capitals games. He also enjoyed baseball, football, and watching T.V. He loved his Country, Family, Friends and God. His one wish was Happiness for everyone. “In the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take. Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”, Don took several chances in his life and made the most out of every single one, he made memories that lasted him his entire life. He would want you to take the memory that you have of him and use it in your life, take the chance and enjoy every day, every night, every moment. Don will forever be missed and loved. Remembering him will be easy, we will do it every day, for love is stronger than death. Until we see him again.

A Military honors service will be held at 4PM on Friday July 23, with memorial service directly following. A Potluck gathering will be held right after the service.
