Denise Rohed-Trout

Denise Rohed-Trout, 76, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023  in Arlington, VA. 

Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Ross and Gizella Rohed, she was the youngest of six children. After residing in Alexandria, Egypt, then Alexandria again, she graduated from Groveton High School in Alexandria, VA, before joining the U.S. Navy serving in the medical corps. She was married to James N. Trout, Jr and attended Shippensburg College while raising two children. 

In 1980, Denise relocated to Woodbridge, VA with her children. She returned to Falls Church, VA later in life after residing in Newmarket, NH and Frederick, MD. Her final move to Arlington, VA was  brief but one of the happiest.

During her life, Denise was an avid gardener and reader. She spent many happy hours in the kitchen cooking delicious meals for family and friends. In between her outdoor gardening stints, she was also found sketching, painting and writing while listening to music. She enjoyed road trips and visiting lesser known sites around the mid-Atlantic.

Denise is survived by her daughter Amy, her son-in-law John, her very special friend Chad, beloved granddaughters Emily and Sarah, sisters Mary and Nila, brother Ross and many extended family members. She was welcomed home by her son Jason who passed in 2017.  The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Arleigh Burke Pavilion at Vinson Hall and Sunrise at Bluemont Park for their compassionate and genuine care.

Her love of literature and books was well known to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Fairfax Library Foundation at https://www.fairfaxlibraryfoundation.org/donate.

A celebration of her life is planned for July 8th at 12 pm
