Carmelo Alisuag

Carmelo Bernard Alisuag, 67, a long time resident of Arlington left this world on August 8, 2020 at St, Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Born in Alitagtag, Batangas, Philippines, “Melo” as he was fondly called by her family and friends graduated from De La Salle High School in Lipa City, Batangas and attended college at the De La Salle University in Manila to pursue a Liberal Arts/Commerce degree. He was married to Amelita Bautista Alisuag of Lipa City, a midwife.

Melo loved playing pool, fishing and cooking… like a chef. For several years he won numerous awards for his mastery of the sport of pool and his many trophies are a testimony to his skill. He even traveled once with Efren Reyes, the Filipino professional player who won over 80 international titles and considered by analysts, fans, current and former players as the greatest pool player of all time. His passion for fishing consumed a great part of his time, spending many overnight trips to fishing grounds with friends and taking charter fishing trips at times. Not to be missed is his other passion for cooking. In his younger years he controlled the kitchen and was always in charge of the food production for his sister Cora’s get togethers.

On a more professional note, Melo worked for Aliron International, Inc., a Department of Defense contractor as its Human Resource coordinator and Accounting assistant for 11 years. He was a manager at a Wendy’s Restaurant for more than 7 years, branch manager at Burger King and a sales consultant at Hecht now Macy’s. True to his passion he also trained many aspiring pool players to become masters like him. In the ensuing years when his health started to fail he continued to work as a self-employed Uber and Lyft entrepreneur.

Melo was also dedicated to his family. At a very young age due to untimely  death of our father he took on the responsibility of managing our sugarcane plantation. He was always the “go to” person of the   family whenever they needed transport to their medical appointments and trips to wherever they needed to go. He was an excellent driver and very good with navigation. As he used to say, “I do not need any GPS to find my way”.

Carmelo was beautifully blessed with 3 children, Janice, Andres III and Melanie and 2 granddaughters, Carina and Rainbow.

He is survived by his siblings Erlinda, Andres, Jr., Corazon, Alberto, Imelda and Marissa.

Melo touched many lives and he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
